Eight year-old Lavender Williams, who recently lost her mother to cancer, sets off on an epic journey to find her Dad, whom she's never met. What do you get when you combined an angry "Frankenweenie", with the traveling to find dad plot from "The Journey of Natty Gann" with an unlovable pretentious fop girl you know you've seen before? Why, you get this. How they got John Lithgow and Christopher Lloyd for this, we'll never know. It's so bad, that after about ten minutes, I had to stop watching it. That's pretty damning for a SHORT film not even 27 minutes long. And man alive -- what's happened to poor Bruce Broughton? I understand that maybe if this had taken off into a feature film he'd be a lucky shoe-in, but... God brings the girl's dead dog back to life to help her. Which is totally unbuyable considering he's not only slow, but literally a part of his body falls off early on. He's more interested in female dogs, leaves the girl at one point to go do who knows what, and has no redeemable qualities. Telegram from the 1980's: YOU DIDN'T GET IT. And oh my God, the girl. There's nothing interesting about her. She's boring, self absorbed, and a mini bitch. One moment she watches her mother die, the next she's remembering that scene as if it was a big deal with her, then the next (and this all happened in under eight minutes, mind you) she's writing a letter to her long-lost dad saying how it's no problem to come stay with him now that mom's dead (so nonchalantly). And it's all about her. The writing is boring, sometimes even poor just dressed up in sound effects and music to prop it up, and it revolves around two terrible characters that have no enduring qualities. Skip this. Don't waste even ten minutes on it.
