Funny movie with great ideas
I watched this movie and it is really special. We all have seen slapstick comedies like Dumb & Dummer (1994) or the famous Naked Gun (1988). Well this movie is different, in the sense that the humor is more intelligent, less Dumb and more like a good dry wine! You should watch this movie, as it is different, surprising, refreshing and unforeseeable in its twists and turns. It is not about showing Romania to the people or even trying to be a fancy multimillion special effects movie. The charm of the movie is its simplicity and truly funny humor. The fighting scenes could have been done better, but this is not what makes the movie so great. It is the story, the plot and its content. The movie could easily be played on a theater stage. Its a funny persiflage of gangster movies. Well worth while watching! It's like a secret vacation spot not known to many! Enjoy!
a movie for people with IQ under 90
It is one of the worse movies ever made. Producers splashed cash on a total insult to most people's intelligence. Do yourself a favor, this movie is not worth your time! You might be better off staring at a white wall for a couple of hours. The humor is absolutely horrendous, most of the actors are as bad as it gets, screenplay is non-existent, directing... suicidal. It starts off by being simply boring, but when they try to be funny they just miss every time and go from bad to worse. They try to copy some American comedies, but without any luck. Alex tries to build this gangster attitude but fails, this second-hand actress Whitney Anderson proves why she is not yet famous and Dragos Bucur just put a big stain on his CV. I haven't seen the end as I could not bare the ordeal any longer, but somehow I know I couldn't have missed much. Apparently Romanians are much better at creating cinema art, rather than entertainment.
A bad copy of American comedies...
I disliked this movies because first of all it lacked any originality. The humor is based on overused clichés and maybe on what non-American producers believe to be "classic American comedy". It also lacks individuality. Except some Romanian names and words though the movie, it could have been about an American teacher married to a foreigner and (unconvincingly) playing gangster anywhere in this world. I haven't noticed any individual feature of Bucharest in the film and the humor that could have resulted from the culture clashes is not at all exploited. There are probably worse movies than this but what a pity for the money and the work spent on this one...
An entertaining, non-European kind of Romanian comedy
I usually don't write reviews for IMDb, but this time I thought that the film was punished for being different. It doesn't get the humor from the traditional Romanian comedies (self-pitiful, based on the consequences of undergoing a totalitarian regime) but from the traditional romantic (as the genre) American comedy: given an extraordinary context, a bold hero finds an exit through unconventional means, being betrayed near the end by the most trustful companion. On the plus side, the film is entertaining and has a fresh, commercial image, being at par with most of recent American comedies, loosing the cheap, low-budget, "let's compromise here" feeling. I think you will find some of the scenes although predictable, quite enjoyable, and the American-style happy ending. On the minus side, I think the plot was thin and the action predictable. A true American writer would have worked a little more on the trigger event and the twist before the conclusion. Probably would have speculate more the Romanian context: corruption, organized crime, police inefficiency. Anyway, if you search (as i often do) a light comedy to clear your mind after a rough day at work, "The Godmother" is as good as any other typical American comedy.
you'd better watch a blank screen
The last movie ever to watch...no letter category for this. Just a few money from pro TV(i guess) and some wannabe (control paste)stars of poor Romania. As I watched it I couldn't understand if this ''movie'' it's for mental retarded people or for those in deep coma or not... I'm truly amazed how any director is capable of something like it. No script , no actors , no action , not any level of smartness :) Do yourself a gift and don't watch it ! You can instead turn off your TV and look at the beautiful black screen! GOOD WORK PRO IDIOT LALA TV for another dumb creation. Keep up the good work washing brains F word with ing rear entry's!!!
