The Adventures of RoboRex (2014) Reviews
Well done family movie with a sci fi twist.
Roborex is a delightful movie. It's a bit of science fiction written around the very human scale story of a son and father trying to cope with the loss of their mother and wife, who's absence from their lives forces them to work at a more understanding relationship between the two. In the meantime, the science fiction part of the story provides an energetic and enjoyable adventure. The saving grace in both story elements is the loyal and intelligent Rex, a dog any of us would feel blessed to have in our lives. The script, acting, sets, special effects and production values are well executed. Watch this! You won't be disappointed.
A K9 movie in all but name
Released in 2014, this movie plays out like a movie version of the TV series K9 (2009-10) as both has a robot dog from the future and Roborex features a machine that is like the Space-Time Manipulator from K9. However Professor Apocalypse (Star Trek: Voyager alum Ethan Phillips) is essentially the opposite to K9's Professor Gryffen (Robert Moloney) as Professor Apocalypse is the villain. Roborex makes a sacrifice here just K9 did in Doctor Who: School Reunion. The Adventures of Roborex is not particularly good family film but is not entirely terrible. Not bad to look at it once.
