Ana is a very humble single mother whose only goal in life is to help her son grow up and become a good man. She works selling flowers in a popular market.   It is another typical Dominican movie where the bad guys are the "rich" and the good the "poor". He wants to be "realistic" about the situation in the Dominican Republic. It has a horrible address that would not even have an independent movie. His photography is late for his time and the performances are horrible.   This movie has had a lot if hype in the Dominican movie community, title as serious effort to make more dramatic and socially conscious films, in an industry where the bulk of movies produced has been comedies targeted to a mass market. La lucha de Ana made it to limited Dominican movies theaters and had a conservative success. The problem is that the story presents nothing new, full of clichés and stereotyped characters; the acting is pretty bad with the exception of Cheddy Garcia (Ana) and maybe the guy who plays Ruben, the music and score is bad, the dialog seems forced, the character are flat and underdeveloped and you never get to care for anyone. This movie is way overrated. It wants to leave you with a message of social and class injustice but it fails to deliver that point successfully.
