Santiago and Eugenio are more than friends, they are life long business partners. They understand each other without words, they care for each other, they need each other. One day Eugenio disappears without leaving any clues behind. Santiago immediately notices his absence, but only realizes what have happened when Eugenio's wife, Laura, lost and hopeless assures him that Eugenio has left. Santiago and Laura begin a journey in order to find him and end up discovering that they prefer to stay together in this quest rather than finding out where he is. 'The Mystery of Happiness' is a film about love, but goes beyond it, it pushes boundaries, it explores the idea of loyalty and estrangement, and it definitely puts dreams over long lost promises.

Nice one from Argentina
I saw this comedy on cable today, and was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was, as I had never heard of it. The story is fairly simple, but like many films of course, the actors and the director carry it along well. I am surprised at the lower rating it has received on IMDb though. Maybe it is because the principal actors are older? I don't know, but this film will keep your attention the entire time. The themes are basically romance and friendship in very basic ways, so to speak, so the viewer cannot help but identify with the characters. The lead actor, Guillermo Francella, does a very good job in his role as the abandoned best friend/business partner. I saw him in a previous film a while back, "Rudo y Cursi"(México) and he basically stole the show in that one. Anyway, this film from Argentina is definitely very good,and highly recommended
A partner disappears and his wife and other other partner look for him.
Picked up as a time filler and after seeing the IMDb ratings reluctantly. It is a quiet movie that sort of sneaks up on you. It illustrates that you don't know other people as well as you think you do. Two partners that share a lot start off the action and it is impressive how much they share even subtle details. Nonetheless one partner disappears and the remaining partner is confronted by the wife who sees herself as a replacement. She is astounded at what the first partner know about her husband, but then later we realize her husband had a life away from work unknown to the partner. They both see life differently. The two main actors have just the right touch. You will be rooting for them and may not be too surprised at how the movie closes, but the journey along the way is beautiful.
An absolutely adorable love story!
The story begins with Eugenio and Santiago. They are lifelong friends and business partners who do everything together and know everything about each other.....so it seems. As the story begins to unfold, we immediately see that what Santiago doesn't know about Eugenio is a lot. The plot then thickens when one day Eugenio suddenly disappears. Laura is Eugenios 50 something, pill popping wife who shows up at her husbands store looking for him. The movie then takes off into a surprising direction as Laura and Santiagos quest to find Eugenio make them discover so many things about themselves. A delightful movie about love and change and the time of reckoning we must all face that had me laughing and crying and empathizing with all of the characters. The title fits so perfectly (El Misterio de la Felicidad)
