Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years (2005) Reviews
Movie worth watching! 50Magical Years of Disneyland
We took our kids to Disneyland for the first time this summer. Having them watch this movie was a real treat. By the end of the movie young or old I think everyone in the audience had a tear in their eye. It's amazing this dream came from a man who took his daughter to a park, and wish there was something out there for all ages to feel young. Watching the footage from the beginning of construction to the opening was amazing. We think we are the age of technology, but even back then there was a lot of advances. One shocker for me was that Steve Martin started his career in the Magic Store. Pairing Steve with Donald Duck was very amusing, they made a great team. Walt saw the child like personality in him and look at him today. Walt touched so many peoples lives and still does today by making every ones dream come true; making us feel like a kid again at Disneyland NO matter how old we are.
This must be a mistake
I got a copy of the Disneyland Secrets, Stories and Magic DVD set for Christmas. There is no film matching the description given here anywhere on that set. There is the 50th anniversary film and the Disneyland USA People and Places film as well as a nice selection of Disneyland shows about the park. But there is no film with Steve Martin as the host. Is it possible this is an easter egg and I just haven't found it? Or are these folks posting comments actually discussing the film they saw when they visited Disneyland? If it really is on this set I hope someone will post information about where it can be found. I'd like to see it.
Great & 6 years over due
When the ?Walt Disney Treasures? sets started in 2001 the very first one I purchased was the Disneyland set. I love it & still watch it now. Why did it take Disney 6 years to put together another set/package for Disneyland is beyond me. WAY TOO LONG to wait Disney. I love this set. Some of the episodes I have on video tape already. It is so nice to have all of them with perfect picture. Having the ?Disneyland ?U..S.A.? show in wide screen is great & the commentary with Leonard and Tony is fantastic. Let me say this to Disney-PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER 6 YEARS TO GET ANOTHER DISNEYLAND SET/PACKAGE TOGETHER. And, my requests for the next set/package. 1959 for the opening of the Matterhorn, Monorail & submarines, 1967 for the opening of Pirates & the new Tomorrow land & 1969?s ?Disneyland Showtime? for the opening of the Haunted Mansion with Kurt Russell & the Osmond Brothers.
Pretty much one of the coolest things to see in Disneyland
So this show was amazing!! It is/was in the opera house on main street USA. In the lobby before the show you can see layouts, drawings and plans of Disneyland and it's rides. But the show is the really cool part. Steve Martin and Donald Duck tell you all about Disneyland and the attractions. They use special footage and movies from opening day to tell about the different attractions in Disneyland. You'll learn some pretty funny and interesting things from this show. They talk about the planning of Disneyland, Opening day, failed attractions and Disneyland now. Many of theses stories and clips you can't see anywhere else! so hurry to Disneyland and see it before it's gone!!
Worth seeing!
I think this is very entertaining, especially because I like Steve Martin! Before the show starts, you can look around in the waiting area. It's a great way to learn about the history of Disneyland with miniatures of the original park. You can sign a guest book prior to seating and learn great facts of both Walt Disney and Disneyland. (It's also a great place to relax your feet after a day of walking!) I'll miss it when I go back to Disneyland since I enjoy it so much more than the tribute to Lincoln. I'm wondering if it will be sold in DLR when "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" returns. If it is, I'll definitely buy it!
