Divorced father without custody Torben, a former pro soccer player, concentrates on his talented son David's juniors poorly performing team. When the coach suddenly accepts another position, Torben gets his change 'for the time being'. He becomes a substitute father for several of the boys. He's opposed by many parents, but finds love again with one player's single mother. Yet the greatest reward comes from David, in a twisted way.

A nice 80 minutes
The movie is a very nice family movie from beginning to end. Totally covers people's emotions and reality in a nice way that you can still feel that it is a movie. Torben is an old football player that found himself in a middle of nowhere after he lost his career. He (also) has family issues, like his son does not like him, his ex-wife thinks that he is a failure and he likes to drink cheap beer that buys from Aldi. While he is trying to prove himself as a father he does everything that he should not do. BUT, a miracle happens and he becomes the director of his son's teenage football team, Hvidore. ----- Spoiler------ He works hard and changed his life to DO something in life and get back his son. It works he get his son back and starts a relationship with one of his son's friend's mom. Everything goes really well and they got the cup. ----- Spoiler------ FINAL COMMENTS: This movie gives you what it offers at the beginning. A nice 80 minutes that does not heard you much. But my problem was to see a part about "divorced family" AGAIN! Else than this, it might have a quite small but efficient market in Europe and rest of the world. Uplifting (soccer-related) teen film
This film seems directed at young teens who may also happen to be soccer fans. You really don't need to know much about soccer to understand the action which is at heart a father's struggle for his son's affection. My daughter (14) and I enjoyed watching it and rooting for Torben. POTENTIAL SPOILER HERE AS I WILL MENTION SOME EVENTS THAT HAPPEN IN THE FILM: There is a good dose of cross-cultural information in there as well. For instance, Hakan is Turkish and thus not immediately welcome on the team. When Torben kicks his adversary's car, he symbolically attacks that man's masculinity and higher social status. When Torben gets ready to drink, he leaves all the beer bottles on the table because beer is not refrigerated in Denmark. Torben apparently lives in public housing which makes sense since he doesn't have a steady job.
