HOLLY IS OUR NATIONAL TREASURE...!
Holly Hunter is at the center of this prickly why-done-it as a mother tries to put together the pieces as to why he son committed suicide 7 years prior. An engaging piece of Southern Gothic wrapped in the seemingly suffocating confines of life along the edges, Hunter's character goes from an aimless wastrel to a full fledged detective peeling away the painful scabs that come from doubt & blame. The smallness of this film works wonders as the emotions never become overblown & merely exist along the fine edges of one's temperament & disposition. A fine show all around.
Wonderful actress and director's job
I cannot understand why this movie was underestimated. Holly is so big and intense, some level of an Isabelle Huppert. There are scenes that are so strong and unexpected I felt holding my breath. The dialogues are always clean and precise. The whole atmosphere of contemporary USA's south complete the movie. Must see.
A marvelous incredibly touching film
Holly Hunter's performance is truly Oscar material. A truly underated film, with a masterful script.

Do not miss seeing this film. Remarkable work by all cast members! Remarkable story! Remarkable directing. Remarkable cinematography! God, I Love Holly Hunter - she is an AMAZING human being! With all the crap coming out of Hollywood, and the nauseating constant remakes of movies, or pathetic comic book character movies, I had given up on anybody coming up with a shred of originality, creativity, or story telling talent. Finally, a movie worth the time to watch. I just wish Ms Hunter would make more movies (given/offered more Lead Roles!). She is one, if not THE GREATEST, actor of our time. I'd watch anything with her in it just to see her and her amazing talent. She always takes me away! WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!
Just OK,
Not really that impressive. I did not get much from it. So Holly Hunter plays a woman that lost her son, a few years back and then discovers that someone stole hurt son's idea and she's wants to do something about it. It a very personal piece about a mother's grief and wondering what part she had to play in her son's death and how big the part was. You get the point but I still did not get much from watching this story unfold. I like the way the film looks and that's pretty much it.
